"I highly recommend Anix Inc. Joe Roller (proprietor) is very responsive, communicates timely and performs high quality work at a reasonable price. The project included increasing the height of the garage ceiling in order to accommodate a car lift, which required partial removal of the roof, adding a large dormer and increasing the height of the garage door (beyond the original wall height). We were trying to complete the project before moving into our new home and Joe put in significant over-time, trying to complete the job in time. Unfortunately, due to mistakes made by my designer/architect, the Village put a "stop work" order on the project, which caused a 3-month delay. During that time, the Village allowed us to perform some work to secure my assets and to finish the electrical. Due to the starts and stops and overtime worked, I'm sure Joe's cost was significantly higher than his original estimate, but he stuck to the original bid and also declined a tip at the end of the job because he "felt bad that we had so many problems" (none of which were caused by him). The finished project is beautiful... Joe took special care to match the trim with the dormers and soffits on the house... looks great!"

"We highly recommend ANIX. ANIX rebuilt our finished basement following installation of a drain tile system. This included tile installation, re-installation of laundry and bathroom vanities, installation of new floorboards, removal and reinstall of all doors in the basement and full paint job in all rooms. The quality is outstanding – the rooms have never looked better. Joe and his team take great care in making sure the job is done right. No detail is left without attention. Easy to work with, on time, excellent work. We have used Anix in the past for other home improvement projects, and again, Anix delivered. We recommend them highly, and would certainly hire ANIX again for any future projects."

"Joe and his team did a great job on our bathroom remodel project. It was a total gut rehab job, which included replacing some of our old galvanized steel plumbing. It looks beautiful now! Everyone arrived timely, and they were professional. Pricing was fair - what we were expecting to pay. Communication with Joe was great - I've already recommended him to several other people."

"Joe and his team did an outstanding job, going above and beyond for this challenging project. The stairwell looks fantastic, and functions as expected, both for drainage and for safety in using the steps. The door is a significant upgrade - unlike the past 7 years, we actually now use the door. And the drain system appears to be working as expected, as of this writing, no issues since work was completed. I will add that Joe really cares about serving the customer, and getting the work done correctly. One anecdote - in the middle of the project, while the stairs were under construction and the drain work not yet completed, we were hit with a major, unexpected rain storm. Joe came to our house, on his own initiative, after 900pm, to check the tarps and such to ensure they were secure, and also installed quickly a temporary spout to carry any excess water away from the house. All was well, and we were quite pleased. We have used Joe now for several projects around our home - some small, one quite large (this one) and some in between - all have turned out terrific. We will continue to use Anix for our home improvement projects."

"Anix was recommended to us by friends after we had met with several other contractors. Right away we were impressed that the representatives from Anix brought 3D mock-ups of the proposed renovations to our initial meetings. Additionally, Anix brought to our attention several potential issues (that later turned out to be true) that were not raised by other contractors. Despite this, Anix's estimate was competitive with the other estimates we received. We were very pleased with the quality of work performed by the Anix team as well as their responsiveness and ability to manage expectations. As this was our first major remodel, we were very appreciative of the additional time the Anix team took to work with us. While there are always surprises in large projects like these, the Anix team did an excellent job of keeping to budget. We intend to use Anix again on future renovations."

"I would highly recommend Joe and Anix! From the initial meeting I could tell he was knowledgeable, honest, and thorough! Joe made sure things were done right and has an eye for asethics. For example he used an appropriate dry wall for the lower half in case we got seepage (without us even asking) and advised me to do oak instead of carpeted stairs to match our upstairs hardwood and avoid 3 disjointed finishes. I was so thankful they made sure I had laundry while the work was being done and that we now have another space for entertainment, play, and working out!"

"He installed a egress window and a full dug out of the perimeter of the basement. re plumbed it to go out to the back yard so there no more flooding. He also trimmed the entire basement. Installed flooring and a sink in the bathroom. They even had to replace asphalt by the neighbors for the plumbing and replaced it when done. They also replaced a fence they had to move while working. They left everything looking better then when they started. His prices are reasonable and his quotes better then others. He will take a job from beginning to end. He took the time so it looked like a custom builder did the work. Many days my son would just leave them the keys. They were great to work with, super polite. Really really good people to work with. You could leave your kids with them, not that you would but they were trustworthy people. Never worried about any issues. I have referred them to people. We worked with him very well."

"I contacted Anix for a plumbing situation at my Mom's house while she was out of town. She was getting a lot of water in her finished basement. I had contacted 3 other plumbers along with Joe from Anix, all 3 plumbers wanted to tear up the basement and install new drain tile. All 3 estimates were around the same amount $8,000.00. When Joe from Anix came over he said he didn't think it was the tiles at all, and said I should contact the Village. He walked around the property and looked at everything, he was there for quite a while, but the entire time he was sure the issue wasn't drain tiles. When he left he contacted me later on and ask me to send a video of the water coming in, so he could review it further. The following Monday I contacted the Village and they assisted with the issue and we've never had another drop of water in the Basement. Joe had gone completely above and beyond offering his knowledge and assistance. He was the only one that told me truth! He saved my Mother who is on a fixed income several thousands of dollars! I wouldn't hesitate contacting Joe again if I ever need his assistance in the future."

"Joe and his team from Anix were great to work with. Joe met with us to plan out our kitchen redesign and we felt he asked all the right questions to get as much detail about the project up front to get us a good estimate. The estimate was very competitive, fair, and definitely worth the end result! His team was always on time and Joe was very responsive. The communication throughout the project was great. During the project the team found a couple of roadbumps along the way, but Joe was always very fair and up front about any additional work needed to be done. In a big project like this, we knew that finding unexpected obstacles along the way was inevitable, but we were very happy with the way Joe and team adjusted and communicated these with us. Long story short, the kitchen looks great, all members of the team were very nice and professional, and we wouldn't hesitate to give Anix a call with any other projects we have in our future."

"We needed to build an 8' kitchen island with a sink, dishwasher and IKEA cabinets. I already framed some of it out and put together the cabinets. Many carpenters refuse to work with IKEA cabs so we were happy Joe said there wouldn't be a problem. However, Mike said it wasn't right and rebuilt it the right way and roughed in the plumbing. Joe worked with us very hard to choose and install our granite. However, Joe was much more expensive than a granite guy we've used before. So, we went with our former granite guy. Mike installed an IKEA countertop, sink and rough plumbing for the guest bath. Looks great. Mike was always polite and hard working. Since I was using IKEA plumbing fixtures with old pipes and an IKEA sink cabinet with drawers, Mike struggled. He probably spent too much time working on it, used up hours quickly and went way over budget on the guest bath. Our usual plumber was more familiar with the IKEA system was able to do the master bath in only 1 1/2 hours connecting the IKEA pipes with the old pipes. I don't fault Mike. He really tried to get it hooked up right in the guest bath but ultimately couldn't work with it and the cabinet. I will have to call our regular plumber to redo it. I should have stepped in sooner. Sadly, he couldn't install the dishwasher either because he said he would have needed a special tool. It remains unistalled inside the kitchen island. Mike couldn't finish the job because the electric for the island needed to be done by my electrician and the range hood I wanted him to install needed different electric connectors again, I had to call my electrician for that which is understandable because I had to make sure everything is code. I still have some more work for him to do and will not hesitate on second on calling Joe again and asking for Mike. Joe and Mike were great. Very honest, responsive and Joe went out of his way to please even if some of the work remains unfinished. We've had 2 contractors highly rated on Angie's List who turned out to be dishonest or awful. Not Anix. They are the real deal!"

"We initially purchased their contractor for a week special (40 workman hours). Before we did that, however, we called and they came out to the house to provide an estimate. Joe suggested that we purchase the deal and that the remainder of the work would cost approximately $1500. This cost included supplies and labor (minus the cost of the countertop, sink, and faucet, which I purchased), which I found helpful because we knew what our total cost would be. The work we had done included installation of new laminate countertops, new stainless steel sink, new sink faucet, new kitchen backsplash, repair and paint of ceiling drywall, painting of staircase walls, and new tile in our full bathroom. Joe asked if he could have two men working at the same time; in this way, the work would get done in 3-4 workdays instead of a week or more. They were fantastic- neat, respectful, punctual. They communicated their progress and any challenges along the way. It was a good price for the work and if I had work like this to have done again, Joe and his team would be first on my list. Thanks!"

"This is the fourth time that we have used Joe and his construction company Anix. I called Joe because we had no water coming out of the shower. Joe came over on his way home from another job, found the problem, and sent his workers to fix the problem the next morning. While fixing the shower, Anix installed a new bathroom fan with humidity sensor and repaired the bathroom ceiling and repainted it as well. What can I say, another job well done by Joe and his crew from Anix! Thanks Joe for the great and super fast work! I look forward to seeing you in the spring so we can get started on the fence project! Keep up the great work!"

"This was our third project using Anix, Inc., which indicates how extremely pleased we are with their work. Can you imagine handing the contractor the key to your house, leaving town, and just saying, "Make it pretty!" Trust in their abilities, workmen, and work ethics topped our list. We came home to a beautiful kitchen...actually, it is stunning! The little extras were evident everywhere and greatly appreciated. Neighbors seeing this recreation cannot believe how much bigger the kitchen looks and how enticing the updates made our home. Thank you, Joe and crew, for your dedication. "This is the third time that we have used Joe and his company Anix. This time Anix did a complete kitchen rehab for us. I will only only use Joe and Anix for all of my construction needs. Our kitchen looks unbelievable, with new cabinets, floors, doors, trim, lighting, electrical, and paint. He even built us a fireplace in the adjoining family room, made out of stone. Joe came up with some great ideas, that saved us money and time. Thanks for the great kitchen Joe and his Anix crew! You guys are highly recommended! "I can't say enough great things about this company. I've put off writing a review bc I didn't think I could come up with the words that would give them ALL the PRAISE they deserved. So, I'll try. 🙂 I live in Texas and my home is in Hoffman Estates, IL. It had been rented out to the same people for the last 5 yrs. I had not seen the property in some time but knew that I needed to update in order to sale it. Joe worked with me with quotes (lots of quotes) and suggestions on what was necessary to be done, etc. He gave me an initial quote for roofing, siding for the garage, etc. but I ended up going with a roofing company I had used in the past for repairs. The savings in the end were minor to what the quote I got from Joe were and I regret not having his team do the whole project bc it was quiet a nightmare trying to coordinate the whole thing from TX. Joe had even offered to try to match my roofing quote. I seriously should have let him just for the stress relief. I flew up to IL to meet with Joe. My renters where still in the house, so I stayed at the house while the crew worked. The renters living conditions were TERRIBLE. It was like they moved in and NEVER cleaned. Joe and his team were so AWESOME. They were very professional and handled the entire situation great. They encountered pretty dirty bathrooms and spaces and did what they had to do to get the job done even though they are contractors and not cleaners. (They did keep their workspace clean and tidy the entire time). Joe and his team showed up in clean Anix Builders T-shirts which I loved. They were all clean in appearance and all were very friendly and smiled and greeted me every time. The guys ate their lunch in the garage or elsewhere (which I would have made lunch for them if it were not my renters place - that's how comfortable I was with them.) Did I mention that I am a short little woman and I felt safe with these guys? With every construction job, there are always delays, issues, other things you see that need to be done. While inspecting the house I found several smaller things that need to be address - water heater leak, window lock break, a hole in the wall, window screens broken, handrail torn off wall, front door screws, etc. Joe took care or is taking care of all of these little details. Some of these things he did without charge. His crew was very prompt 8am-5pm or 6pm everyday until the job was done. Now let me tell you about the bathrooms. I picked the products out at Lowes and his crew installed it all. Joe helped me with all the specs and measurements. I enjoyed this part as it gave me some control as to the quality/price point of the product I was putting in there. I was able to order everything online from Lowes and delivered to the house. This worked great since I lived in TX. The bathrooms came out BEAUTIFUL. I was most impressed with their painting skills. They turned bathroom walls that had old drywall with bad paint and texture on it, into a smooth even painted bathroom. They spent a lot of time to get it just perfect. Joe even decided that a small section was not to his quality standards and re-patched and repainted that part AGAIN. I don't think others would have taken that extra time for that little area that was barely noticeable since it was near bath light. But Joe is a true professional and perfectionist. Joe is scheduled to do Phase 2 of our project. Installing 11 Windows, a front door, finishing up on some of the small items we found, and painting - now that the renters are out. I'm sure when we go together we will find more things that need to be done. But I am so confident and trust Joe's ability that I am just going to fly in for a few days and leave him with the keys to the house. I don't feel like I have to worry about him finishing his work on-schedule/as promised. And I know him and his crew will respect and take care of the house even without me there. The only things I can suggest - and it was more than likely ME bc I was out of town and not able to meet with him face-to-face for the initial project discussions, quoting, etc. But I did find that part to be quiet stressful. But I would imagine it is stressful for everyone. Joe was so patient with me on this as it was my first time working with contractors and I was shelling out a lot of money. Joe was able to secure a building permit in the time we needed but it was a really close call on that. I hope Anix Builders will be around for a long time. They helped me out so much and I want others to have the same opportunity to experience this level of customer service and quality service. There's just no reason to go with anyone else. I would be more then happy to provide a reference for them anytime. If a woman who doesn't even live in the same state as this company can trust them, I think that says a lot. I'm looking forward to seeing them again for Phase 2."

"We selected Anix Builders after reading through several Angie's List reviews, and we couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome! Joe came to our home and could see that we were in desperate need of a basement remodel after water damage. He gave us several suggestions, worked with us to keep costs close to our budget, and followed through every step of the way. Our village permit took a little longer than any of us expected, but Joe and his crew worked diligently to keep us on track. His crew members were extremely polite and cleaned up every day to keep the mess to a minimum. New insulation, drywall, paint, lights, and carpeting transformed the basement completely! Our grandchildren are thrilled to have their brand new playroom completely finished! Don't assume that your Village will respond quickly with your building permit. We appreciated updates from Joe via e-mail and phone as our job progressed. We plan to do more remodeling in the near future, and Joe and the rest of the Anix Builder's team will be our contractor of choice! We highly recommend this company."

"All Angie's List deals should go this well. We recently moved into a house which we gut-rehabbed. There were/are still several smaller projects remaining including building out the master bedroom wardrobe. We purchased an Ikea "assemble-it-yourself" modular package but quickly realized it was going to be too big a job for one DIY homeowner. I saw Anix's $299 General Contractor for a Day deal and after reading the positive reviews, phoned them to confirm they could do the job. Joe came out the next day to inspect the project, confirmed it could be done with 8 man-hours (a crew of two working 4 hours) and offered to start the very next day. We purchased the deal that night and Joe and assistant arrived at 8 am. There was some repair work required for one of the Ikea units and the base molding in the wardrobe area needed to be removed and/or cut in places which added to the workload and time to do the job which ended up taking about 6 hours rather than the anticipated 4 but Joe did not ask for additional monies beyond the $299 we paid for the deal, which was a refreshing change from our experience with other contractors found on Angie's List. The wardrobe looks great and we will happily use Anix again in the future."

"I called Joe from Anix after remembering him and his company from installing my gutter guards. I was going to sell my moms condo and needed to do some repairs before putting it on the market. I called Joe and asked him if he had some time to spare to help me out with some projects at my moms condo. Joe met me around 6pm, on his way home from another job. I told him what needed to be done and he gave me an estimate right there on the spot. He told me he was extremely busy during the next few weeks, but he would be able to come by on his way home, around this time and complete the projects prior to selling the condo. That sounded great to me, and the projects were completed in the next few days, as promised. Joe even found some other electrical problems that needed to be fixed before any inspection. Condo passed the village inspection prior to selling. Thank you!"

"I wanted to redo my Moms kitchen for her as a Christmas gift. In February I contacted a different A rated on Angie's list contractor and arranged to have the work done. He kept pushing the start date back until he said he would no longer be able to complete the job for Easter, which was when she really wanted it done by so she could serve Easter dinner. I frantically started calling around and no one could complete the job in two weeks. I called Anix and they came out the next day. They put a rush on the counters and had the whole project done beautifully with four days to spare! The guys are friendly and work hard and do beautiful work. I liked them so we'll they are currently working on my home."

"I was having trouble finding someone to fix the siding. Because it came off of an eave on the roof of my two-story home, I needed someone who had a long enough ladder. Handymen I contacted didn't have a two-story ladder. The roofers I contacted wanted to charge a whole lot to fix it even though it would be a quick and easy thing to do. So I contacted Angie's List helpline for their recommendations on someone who could do it for a reasonable cost. Joe at Anix was on their list of recommendations and I called him. He said he could come out and look at it early in the morning before he went out to another job. He looked at it, told me it would be easy to fix and that he didn't even know what to charge me because it was so simple to fix. He came out of the following Saturday, fixed it in less than ten minutes, and when I tried to pay him he refused because it was so easy. I had another job that I wanted done, installing a fan in my master bathroom, and I asked him for an estimate. He gave me a reasonable estimate and I hired him to come out and do it. I bought the fan but he supplied all the other stuff - kit for venting through the roof, switches, etc. Joe and his electrical guy did the work in a few hours. Haven't had any problems with the fan and the work done was top quality. I plan to use Joe and Anix in the future."

"We called on friday, he came out saturday to check it out, then since there was snow in the forcast he came out first thing Monday morning and did the repairs. This is the third time Joe has done work for me and I am always very satisfied. He is prompt, friendly, and is willing to go the extra mile, not to mention he does excellent work. "I called Joe the Owner Of Anix to come out and give me an estimate and some ideas on gutter guards for my always clogging gutters on my 2 story home. Joe came out the very next day and gave me some great choices. I decided to go with the snap in guards. Joe gave me an estimate for the labor and promised to come back the next day at 8 am to start the job. Joe arrived at 7:45 am. finished the job, cleaned up after himself and his crew, and stuck to his estimate, which was cheaper than the other two that I received prior to Anix. Thanks for the great work at a great price Anix."
